Last week, Worldfavor attended Stockholm Climate Week 2023, organized by We Don't Have Time, Exponential Roadmap, and UNDP. The event drew in over 2500 attendees at SPACE Arena during 18-22 April, with talks, panels, and workshops on climate action, renewable energy, sustainable transportation, circular economy, and much more. It brought together some of the brightest minds to showcase climate innovation, willingness, challenges and dedication in the race to zero.
Here are some key takeaways from our dear team members on site:
💡 Many speakers, regardless of industry/NGO, discussed the need to "break the silos," – emphasizing how businesses have a huge role in scaling up and enabling societal transformation.
💡 Legislation is, on the one hand, outdated and is holding companies back, and on the other, a driving force in the green direction (i.e., EU regulations and their effects as rings on water outside the EU).
💡 Many company speakers used the term "value chain," which is more encompassing than "supply chain."
💡 The World Wildlife Foundation gave positive examples where corporate sustainability strategies include both climate and environmental topics and the respect for human rights, as the transition needs to be fair and equal.
💡 Intruiging new perspectives and innovative solutions were presented to mitigate the impacts of climate change and build a more sustainable future – not least regarding the future of personal vehicles, with speakers from Polestar, GoMore, Rivian, and H2 Green Steel.
💡 Discussions on stage highlighted the urgent need for honesty, transparency, and serious finance and policy to scale up the available and affordable solutions for massive emissions reductions.
