What makes a great team culture? That’s one of the questions our very own co-founder and COO Frida Emilsson answered in a presentation at the Breakit SaaS Summit 2022. The event takes place annually and professionals from a number of SaaS companies come together to inspire and connect.
A strong team and culture are so crucial for many companies’ success today that it has become a key factor in attracting and retaining talent. The topic of Frida’s talk was building a strong team and a winning culture. She included how Worldfavor has built, and continues to develop, a strong team culture and how past mistakes have led to success. She shared some tips on what makes a great team culture (and what doesn’t), and how to maintain the culture as the team rapidly grows.
A few highlights from the presentation:
- Having a diverse team of driven and talented individuals who share the company’s values is key to building a winning culture. They will be the ones to strengthen and develop the culture. A mismatch between an employee’s and the company's values can be a major setback to the company’s success.
- It’s important to define the culture, its vision and its values in order to find talent that are a cultural fit. The company’s purpose, the why, also need to be reiterated internally.
- Leaders who are passionate, lead by example, are willing to coach and live by the company values can make a huge difference in the team culture.
- Spending time together across teams, facilitating fun and lifting each other is extremely important because it lets the team connect and bond.
