Navigating the challenges of recruiting for impact – Worldfavor attending breakfast meetup with Impact Loop
Last week, Worldfavor participated in a breakfast meetup arranged by Impact Loop and Novare Interim & Recruitment.
The topic of this meetup was "Recruiting for impact companies in a scaleup phase." Our co-founder, Frida Emilsson, and Head of People and Culture, Frida Bunner, participated in the panel and offered transparent lessons from recruiting in Worldfavor's growth journey.
Better to let it take time
Frida Emilsson shared valuable insights into the growth journey of Worldfavor, emphasising the critical role personnel-related decisions play in organisational dynamics. With Worldfavor rapidly expanding, she highlighted the challenges of meeting growth targets while maintaining a healthy corporate culture. She stressed the importance of taking the time to find suitable candidates and don't rush hiring decisions.
The role of transferable competence and cultural fit
Frida Bunner further shared her thoughts and experiences of recruiting. She emphasised the critical factor of formalising the culture and finding a candidate who fits company values and competence issues. Furthermore, Bunner highlights individual development potential and transferable competencies, which provide a long-term sustainable company employee in a growth phase.
– We work a lot on identifying transferable competencies. So if someone is good in role X, they may also be able to work in role Y. Since we don't know which roles will be around in ten, five, or two years, it's essential to have people with a growth mindset, says Frida Bunner.
The panel discussion also addressed how much to rely on gut feelings when recruiting.
– Something that is also important is not just to go with the gut feeling you get in the interview. It may say something about the eventual outcome. But you should not neglect to go through the steps of references and background checks if needed. Frida concludes that these are also important elements.
The morning provided many wise discussions and insights that we took away with us.
Thank you, Novare Interim & Recruitment and Impact Loop, for having us.
