CSO Lise Alm joined the Sustainability Talks podcast by Cordial to discuss developments in the ESG landscape
Worldfavor’s Chief Strategy Officer Lise Alm recently joined as a guest on an episode of Sustainability Talks by Cordial. Together with the hosts Josefin Borglund and Elin von Liewen Wistrand, she sat down to discuss business sustainability data, challenges and practices within ESG reporting, covering the importance of transparency for sustainable decision-making.
Highlights from the podcast episode:
- New legislation and requirements for companies to report their ESG data are continuously increasing. We are experiencing a shift where directives have gone from voluntary to becoming more regulatory – amping up the interest in sustainable sourcing and investment solutions among companies and stakeholders.
-
Data is tricky. Legislation requires clear definitions, which is still a challenge within a young field with multiple initiatives to achieve ESG standardization. We are currently at the beginning of the road toward harmonizing the frameworks. In a near future the standard for ESG reporting will be as clear as financial reporting is today.
-
Transparency is key. Making informed decisions as a buyer or investor requires transparency. Worldfavor's network-driven business model aims to provide the place for companies to showcase their ESG data and for buyers to access the information necessary for sustainable decision-making. Once data is reported, it can be easily accessible to other stakeholders.
- Asking “What’s in my portfolio?” or “What’s in my supply chain?” is the first step toward enabling change. ESG reporting is not just a matter of measuring. It’s about driving impact and education, of great value for many buyers and investors. Venture capitalists are often particularly invested in the improvements across their portfolios, supporting young companies usually at the start of their sustainability journeys.
-
What’s the future of sustainability managers? ESG reporting is often the responsibility of sustainability managers. In the future, we expect to see sustainability incorporated into the business models of organizations, so that it's not subjected to one individual but part of everyone’s responsibility.
