On a sunny morning in May, we hosted a breakfast event in partnership with NORNORM, titled "Circularity Unwrapped." This gathering aimed to foster meaningful discussions and serve as a platform to delve into the practicalities of the circular economy and how to stimulate sustainable actions.
Held at Worldfavor's Impact House, the event kicked off with presentations from Jonas Kjellberg, Founder and Chairman of the Board at NORNORM, and Johan Lindström, Senior Strategic Account Manager at Worldfavor. They introduced the concept of the circular economy, exploring its practical applications and ways to promote sustainable initiatives.
We were privileged to have a distinguished panel of experts from Xvii, RISE, and MiXi Center who shared their valuable insights on building circular businesses:
-
Alisa Mick, Founder of MiXi Center, emphasized the crucial role of collaboration between startups and corporations in testing new solutions and generating demand for circular practices. She highlighted the challenges of starting circular businesses without adequate support.
-
Emma Enebog, a researcher at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, provided insights into an EU initiative developing a product passport to track environmental impacts across industries. She stressed the need for legislative efforts to drive significant industry changes.
-
Taina Flink, VP & Founder of Xvii, offered a hands-on perspective, stressing the importance of practical approaches that span from the warehouse to the entire value chain. She called for proactive efforts to drive real change in the industry.
-
Jonas Kjellberg reiterated the necessity of a fundamental shift in decision-making processes to consider the planet's resources in business strategies.
The event also featured a delightful breakfast prepared by Filip Lundin from Sopköket, using rescued food. Over their nine-year journey, Sopköket has pioneered innovative ways to save and utilize food that would otherwise go to waste.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our panelists and attendees for making "Circularity Unwrapped" a success. Together, we engaged in meaningful conversations and gained valuable insights, collectively advancing the circular economy.
